The Koni FSD are not gas charged so they can be extended or retracted easily during installation. What this means is that right out of the box the Bilsteens offer a little harsher ride over small bumps like road joints. The Koni SFD shocks absorb those same road joints and pas a lot less vibrations on to the coach.

Thanks to all the IRV2 coach owners who posted info about the Koni's shocks. I am now a believer. Hopefully all Entegra's will start coming with this upgrade in the future. Maybe they already do. For anyone on the fence trying to decide if they should go with new Koni shocks on the front I suggest you go for it.

Bilstein adds 1% to spring ratio or even less because of nitrogen pressure. Bilstein has two seals and to damage it is not so easy. I'm not saying that its the inverted design that changes the dampening. I'm saying as a fact that Bilstein shocks dampen on the compression stroke while Koni's dampen durring rebound.

Koni Yellow versus Bilstein B6 on springs that keep the same F/R ratio as stock for the FR-S but lower maybe 20mm max is what it comes down to for me (have to double check lift clearance though... may not even be able to drop the ride height or bring the lifting frames in from the outside versus out from the center of the car.)
