I wanted a better crush (with 3 rollers) and more speedy throughput so I went with the Monster Mill MM3-2.0 (3 rollers, 2” diameter). At first I tried to power it with the gear motor from my previous set-up, but no way … not nearly enough power.

Works great and we've had no issues, rollers are still in great shape after ~600 4bbl batches. You lose some floor space but we didn't have the height to put the mill above the tun so we were a bit stuck.

They used to sell a 177 RPM version that had 40 inch-pounds of torque. It works great with a regular monster mill, but people have said that it's too weak with the 3 roller. I need to find a motor for my 3 roller MM. Has anyone found a good source? 1/2 hp motor will do just fine. Get shives for Grainger and you are good to go.
