The Mattison spec was for a 42" Rotary to grind within .0004". I like leaving the head just a bit higher in the middle to compensate for heat build up in the chuck. This way we will still grind parts parallel. I learned from the guy at mattison who did all the run offs on the rotaries and surface grinders.
